Substance Abuse Policy

Policy outlining how surgeons with a history of substance abuse may enter and complete any ABS examination process.

Applicants with a history of substance abuse will not be admitted to any American Board of Surgery examination, unless they present evidence satisfactory to the ABS that they have successfully completed the program of treatment prescribed for their condition and are currently compliant with a monitoring program documenting continued abstinence.
