MLK Day is the only federal holiday designated as a National Day of Service to encourage everyone - no matter your race, age or background - to honor Dr. King's legacy through service projects that reflect the basic tenets of his dream

In observance of the Martin Luther King, Jr., holiday on Monday, January 17, the ABS office is closed.

MLK Day is the only federal holiday designated as a National Day of Service to encourage everyone – no matter your race, age or background – to honor Dr. King’s legacy through service projects that reflect the basic tenets of his dream: eradicating hunger and poverty, promoting literacy and education, improving and beautifying community spaces, and empowering people to make a positive difference in their own community.

“Making time to volunteer on MLK Day of Service is a great way to engage with your community while honoring the life and legacy of Dr. King,” said Dr. Jo Buyske, ABS President and CEO.

“And whether you plan on cleaning up your community or a public space, mentoring young people, attending an educational event, or assisting those who are food insecure,” added Ada Okafor, ABS Chief Diversity Eeuity and Inclusion Officer, “what you do makes a difference.”
