About the PSITE

Pediatric Surgery In-Training Examination

  • The Pediatric Surgery In-Training Examination (PSITE) is offered annually to ACGME-accredited pediatric surgery training programs to measure the progress attained by residents in their knowledge of pediatric surgery. It is a 5-hour, web-based examination containing approximately 200 multiple-choice questions.
  • The exam is furnished to programs as an evaluation instrument to assess residents' progress. Results are released only to program directors. It is not available to individuals and is not required as part of the board certification process.
  • The PSITE is copyrighted and its contents may not be reproduced or disclosed in any manner, as described in the ABS Ethics and Professionalism Policy. Accommodations for learning disabilities for in-training exams are at the discretion of the program and do not require ABS approval.
  • Examinees should review the exam's content outline (pdf) when preparing for the PSITE.
Next Exam: Feb. 23-24, 2018
